Satsuma Islands
SATSUMA ISLANDS, a group of islands belonging to Japan, lying westward of the province of Satsuma (31 40' N. and 129 40' E.). The two principal are Kami-Koshiki-shima (24^ m. by 5J) and Shimo-Koshiki-shima (8J m. by sJ).
