Newtown, New South Wales
NEWTOWN, NEW SOUTH WALES, a municipality of Cumberland county, New South Wales, Australia, 3^ m. S.W. of Sydney. It consists chiefly of the residences of the wealthier citizens of Sydney and is connected with the city by rail and tram. As a municipality it dates from 1862. Pop (1901) 22,598.
