Kickapoo

KICKAPOO (" he moves about "), the name of a tribe of North American Indians of Algonquian stock. When first met by the French they were in central Wisconsin. They sub; sequently removed to the Ohio valley. They fought on the English side in the War of Independence and that of 1812. In 1852 a large band went to Texas and Mexico and gave much trouble to the settlers; but in 1873 the bulk of the tribe was settled on its present reservation in Oklahoma.
